If Joey Ryan were ever to go to WWE, he would have to change things up a bit to suit the more family friendly company.
Ryan recently spoke to Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated about a possible run in the WWE. Ryan acknowledges that doing what he does now in the independents may not translate to the current PG landscape of WWE programing.
“That just makes me want to turn up the volume even more,” Ryan said. “That leaves more doors open for me. It’s now become profitable to become an independent wrestler, and I’m doing fairly well. I’m proud of my accomplishments and the money I’m making.”
Currently under contract to Lucha Underground, Ryan doesn't expect to be in WWE anytime soon. But with the future of Lucha Underground in question, Ryan could soon turn up there if approached.
“Right now, I know I’m making above average WWE money, and I’m making my own rules and setting my own schedule” said Ryan. “That’s if they were to approach me; if they don’t approach, then that’s OK, too.”
One of the biggest questions is if Joey Ryan would be able to do his penis gimmick in the WWE. Ryan compared what he does with a recent incident.
“If Vince is still taking headbutts, then he could definitely take this, too,” he said. “But in the PG-era of WWE, I don’t think the Joey Ryan character would be doing anything with the penis in WWE. The super, powerful penis would not be part of his repertoire in WWE. I don’t think that’s the place for it.”
If he decides to leave Lucha Underground, Joey Ryan would become a free agent after the last episode of this season, which is currently set to air this Wednesday.
