John Cena: Asking ‘Do We Need Another Fast Film?’ Is Like Saying, ‘Isn’t Wrestling Fake?’

John Cena responds to the criticism surrounding the continuation of the Fast & Furious franchise and compares it to wrestling.

Cena joined the Fast & Furious franchise, which began in 2001, for F9, the ninth movie in the series. He played Jakob Toretto, the brother of Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel). Cena will reprise his role in "Fast X", the newest addition to the franchise.

Mariah May Comments On Potential Future In Modeling Or Acting

Speaking with Megan Ryte for Extra, Cena asked to describe how he responds when someone says, "We don't need another 'Fast' film. The former WWE Champion noted that, like wrestling and WrestleMania, he looks at it with the mindset that, as long as it's good, that's all that matters. Cena also stated that he compared the original question to someone asking if wrestling is fake; in both cases, it showed that they don't understand what it's all about.

"Having just performed at the 39th installment of WrestleMania, my philosophy is, ‘as long as it’s good, that’s all that matters.’ 'Fast', continuously, and box office backs data it up, continuously entertains the world installation after installation. Anyone who says, ‘Do we really need another one?’ I compare it to a fan who says, ‘Isn’t wrestling fake?’ They just don’t understand what we do and they just don’t understand what this is about. As long as the movies are exceptional, which this one might be my favorite of all-time, and I go deep into the 'Fast' library. This is a great ride and I think people are going to get out of the theater and want to see another one. If someone makes that comment, which they’re entitled to, I just don’t think they understand what we do," Cena said.

"Fast X" will hit theaters on May 19, and two more films are expected to conclude the franchise, according to Vin Diesel.
