The judge involved with MLW's lawsuit against WWE has dismissed the initial complaint.
According to court documents, Judge Edward Davila has granted WWE's request to dismiss MLW's lawsuit against the company. According to Davila, the court believes that MLW has not included sufficient facts to plausibly allege a relevant antitrust product market. WWE previously attempted to dismiss the suit on multiple occasions in 2022.
The Motion To Dismiss was granted with Leave To Amend, meaning that MLW has 21 days to file an amended version of the lawsuit. If MLW agrees to amend the suit, the case will move forward, but if they decide against it, the case will be closed.
The lawsuit, which was originally filed back in January 2022, alleges that WWE attempted to undermine their competition by preventing MLW from finalizing multiple media distribution deals. The suit also accuses WWE of attempting to poach MLW talent while they were still under contract with the company. AEW owner Tony Khan has also accused WWE of tampering with contracted talent on numerous occasions in the past in a non-legal setting.
MLW founder Court Bauer later sent in a statement to Fightful regarding the lawsuit being dismissed.
“Our legal team is already at work on amending the complaint. We have every intention to continue pursuing our case against WWE."
Fightful will continue to update fans on the latest news regarding the court case between WWE and MLW.
