Kurt Angle comments on Chad Gable turning heel on Sami Zayn.
The comparisons between Chad Gable and Kurt Angle have always been present due to their similar wrestling styles and Chad utilizing maneuvers such as the Ankle Lock and Moonsault, which were staples of Kurt Angle's move-set.
Recently, Chad Gable turned heel on Sami Zayn in Zayn's hometown of Montreal, Quebec, Canada, and he is now talking about being a virtuous competitor in a similar vein to Kurt Angle during the WWE Hall of Famer's runs as a self-righteous villain.
Kurt Angle recently spoke about Gable's turn and his potential as a heel during the April 2024 Q&A episode of the Kurt Angle Show. Angle is under the impression that the same formula that helped him become a top Superstar in WWE in under one year can work for Chad if utilized properly.
"Well listen, the Kurt Angle formula worked the first time, the Kurt Angle formula will work today. I have noticed, I've been watching Chad and he's doing a lot of actions that Kurt Angle used to do," said Angle. "Different characteristics, different facial expressions, taking off the singlet before he does his finish, he's been doing the Angle Slam [and] the Ankle Lock, so I feel like this is a rebirth of Kurt Angle. I'll tell you this, he's doing a great job of it, too. He has really stepped up and I don't know if I could have done it any better than him. He's doing really good right now."
In the past, Angle has spoken about wanting to work with both Chad and his former partner Jason Jordan when they were known as American Alpha and Kurt Angle returned to WWE in 2017. Angle even believes he could have gotten another run as WWE World Champion out of it. Learn more here.
