Mariah May On Facing Toni Storm At AEW All In: It's Going To Be A Cinematic Masterpiece

Mariah May says AEW All In will be cinema.

May May won the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament to earn a shot at the AEW Women's World championship. She then turned on the reigning champion, Toni Storm, in a brutal betrayal, as May had been by Storm's side since she came to AEW. May will challenge Storm for the title at AEW All In.

Speaking with Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated, Mariah May looked forward to her match against Storm.

“It’s going to be a cinematic masterpiece. I’ve already taken Toni from black-and-white into technicolor. Wembley is her curtain call and a new start for me," May said.

May also commented on her story with Strorm and noted that she was immediately invested and interested when Tony Khan told her about it. She then shared her thoughts on how the story was inspired by Sunset Boulevard and All About Eve.

“I was a bit of a black-and-white film nerd growing up, especially as a teenager, so I knew all about it. I love theater, and I became obsessed with old black-and-white movies. I’d wake up, have a cup of tea, and watch. So it felt like a completely normal idea to me–it tied into my life. I wanted to draw from it, but never copy it black and white, no pun intended. I wanted to bring Mariah May into the story, that glamour. I don’t remember anyone getting beat by a shoe like I did to Toni," May said.

Looking ahead to AEW All In, May said that a new era was about to begin.
