Matt Cardona: I Have To Finish The Story At GCW Homecoming 2023

Matt Cardona says he has to finish the story.

At GCW Homecoming 2023 Night One on August 19, Cardona and Steph De Lander will face Maki Death Kill (Nick Gage and Maki Itoh). The match will be the latest chapter of Cardona's feud with Gage, which began in 2021.

Cardona memorably beat Gage in a Death Match at GCW Homecoming 2021 to win the GCW World Championship. In doing so, he became The Deathmatch King and kicked off his remarkable run on the independent scene.

Gage got revenge by crashing the ceremony where Cardona and Chelsea Green renewed their vows at GCW Homecoming 2022. There, Gage sliced Cardona with a pizza cutter, and Green got her face smashed into some cake. One year later, the bitter feud will continue when Cardona and De Lander take on Gage and Itoh at GCW Homecoming 2023.

In a post that hyped up the match, Cardona borrowed from his good friend Cody Rhodes and shared a clip of "The American Nightmare" saying he had to finish the story.

Rhodes failed to finish his story at WrestleMania 39, as he lost to Roman Reigns. However, the story continued, and Rhodes closed one chapter when he defeated Brock Lesnar at WWE SummerSlam.

Cardona recently commented on potentially finishing the story with a return to WWE. Click here to see what he had to say.
