AEW Collision held its premiere episode on June 19, headlined by the return of CM Punk. The episode also featured the returns of Andrade El Idolo and Miro, who also had not wrestled since AEW All Out 2022.
Many fans and pundits have commented on the "different vibe" of AEW Collision compared to AEW Dynamite. Matt Hardy is among those who noticed the difference in the environment.
"I thought it was solid," he said about the debut episode of AEW Collision on his Extreme Life of Matt Hardy podcast. "I liked how it looked different, it had a different feel. That's going to be part of Collision's success, it looks very different from Dynamite. Those shows need to have two different identities. Dynamite has an identity and Collision has a different identity. There is something special there, and eventually, you can have the World Series between those two."
Tony Khan has previously said that he has not locked AEW Collision and AEW Dynamite into any kind of brand split.
CM Punk, who is the face of AEW Collision, appeared on Wednesday's AEW Dynamite and said he's a Collision guy, and wasn't supposed to be on Dynamite.
