Mayu Iwatani is set to defend the IWGP Women's Championship against Toni Storm on October 5th.
Storm issued the challenge to Mayu at the Stardom event on September 14th.
Speaking to Tokyo Sports, Mayu commented on the bout and a possible future in AEW.
"I was happy that Iwatani Mayu was in Toni's mind. I will beat Toni and prove to the world that I am the true champion of this belt. Who will be there if I beat Toni... Mariah is the current champion... This makes me even more excited. I don't know where things will go from here. I want to pave my own path," she said.
Storm previously defeated Mayu, and successfully defended the World Of Stardom Title in April 2018.
Storm has not wrestled since losing the AEW Women's TItle to Mariah May at AEW All In.
