The world is Mercedes Mone's oyster now that she is a free agent.
Mercedes Mone, formerly known as Sasha Banks in WWE, is currently focused on New Japan Pro-Wrestling but also can go anywhere in the world as she remains a free agent. Mercedes stated shortly after her NJPW debut at Wrestle Kingdom 17 that once she captured the IWGP Women's Championship, she was looking to take that title worldwide.
In a new interview with Scott Fishman of TVInsider, Mercedes has named some of the promotions she is open to competing for, singling out Mickie James of IMPACT Wrestling as somebody she wants to compete against inside the squared circle.
"The thing is I’m a free agent. It doesn’t matter with New Japan. I can go anywhere. I can go to New Japan, IMPACT, Mexico, Germany, Europe. The potential matchups are endless. The same for New Japan. I know they have partnerships with CMLL, IMPACT, AEW. To be a fan and watch all these matchups from all parts of the world is amazing. I know there is a little woman in IMPACT I would love to face one day, Mickie James! We’ll see what is in the stars," said Mone.
Mickie James and Sasha Banks were in WWE at the same time but never worked a program opposite one another.
IMPACT Wrestling and New Japan are coming together on March 30 to present Multiverse United: Only The STRONG Survive. Fans can learn more about that event here.
Mercedes captured the IWGP Women's Championship from KAIRI at NJPW Battle in the Valley on February 18.
