Mike Rotunda has no doubt that Bray Wyatt will eventually be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame.
The wrestling world lost a modern-day icon when Bray Wyatt passed away in 2023 but outside of the ring, Windham Rotunda was more than just his character on TV. He was a father, brother, husband, and son.
In a new interview with Sportskeeda WrestleBinge, WWE Hall of Fame elect, Mike Rotunda, Bray Wyatt's father, discusses his own impending induction and being surprised about him and Barry Windham being inducted as a tag team in 2024 because of his belief that his son was going to be immediately inducted into the Hall of Fame.
"I was surprised because my son, you know, with Windham passing, I thought they were going to immediately put Windham into the Hall of Fame, which he will be at some point," said Rotunda. "I think WWE reassessed his stuff and thought it was too soon to go there and then the reactions and stress on us. We got a call from WWE. They said, 'Hunter wants to do a Zoom call.' We were thinking they were going to tell us what's going to happen at WrestleMania and Hunter said, 'You guys are going to get inducted, you and Barry. You were part of the first-ever WrestleMania'
"It was very flattering, obviously, and actually less stressful on us because of all the stuff we've had to go through with Windham passing, just the mental capacity of it," he continued. "So, obviously, it's a great honor because you're getting rewarded for what you spent 40 years doing."
There will be a documentary honoring Bray Wyatt airing on Peacock on April 1, 2024. Learn more here.
