MLW COO Comments On Brian Pillman Jr Competing For AEW

Brian Pillman Jr is set to make his AEW debut on Tuesday's episode of Dark when he faces Shawn Spears.

Pillman is currently under contract with MLW, but was able to take the match under the terms of his deal. MLW Chief Operating Officer Jared St. Laurent issued the following statement to POST Wrestling regarding Pillman's status:

Shane Taylor Talks Ring Of Honor, Feels Like Some Titles Are Being Passed Around Like Participation Trophies

Brian is not released and is fully aware of our schedule, which includes events October 3rd and December 5th pending the state of the pandemic. We put the health of our talent/staff and their family and our fans before bookings, which is why we are not running at the moment. We’ve been in contact with Brian to relay this. If he elects to perform elsewhere under the terms of his deal, he certainly has our full blessing to do so.

MLW has not run live events since the COVID-19 pandemic started with CEO Court Bauer expressing that the promotion wants to protect the health and safety of performers.

Pillman Jr. recently commented on his AEW appearance and how the opportunity came about. You can find his full comments by clicking here.
