Muhammad Hassan Reflects On WrestleMania 21 Angle With Hulk Hogan, 'It Was The Highlight Of My Career'

Muhammad Hassan looks back on the sole WrestleMania moment of his career. Luckily for him, it also involves one of the biggest stars in the history of professional wrestling, Hulk Hogan.

The Muhammad Hassan character did not last a full year on WWE television, but he had a moment at WrestleMania 21 in 2005. This was a very special moment for the man behind the character in many ways. Hassan attacked Eugene, a character portrayed by Nick Dinsmore, one of his trainers, and Eugene was saved by Hulk Hogan. Hogan had just been inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame 24 hours beforehand and, at the time, was the most synonymous name with WrestleMania.

Muhammad recently reflected on the moment in a recent video on Maven's YouTube channel.

“Nick wasn’t wanted by WWE to be a wrestler, he was wanted to do what he did. He was great at it and he is one of the best technical wrestlers of all time, he was one of my trainers and he was one of those guys that really took care of me and one of those guys that I respect. Nick Dinsmore, Rob Conway, Rip Rogers, Danny Davis, Jim Cornette, those are guys that are in my Hall Of Fame, that I respect more than anyone because of how they took care of me when I came as a 21-year-old kid to OVW. So to be able to go out to WrestleMania and work with Nick Dinsmore, with Hulk Hogan is just the highlight of my career. I can’t emphasize it anymore. To be in there with my first trainer, who was someone that I look up to and respect pretty much more than anyone — and then Hulk Hogan comes in.”

Muhammad Hassan would go on to wrestle Hulk Hogan and Shawn Michaels the next month at WWE Backlash in a tag match alongside Shawn Daivari. He was ultimately removed from television altogether later that year after a controversial angle with The Undertaker aired on the same day as a terror attack in London.
