Nick Khan: The Rock Blew Through High Fan Expectations

Nick Khan comments on The Rock's return to WWE.

The Rock came back to WWE at the beginning of 2024, not just for a one-off appearance, but to embark on a story alongside Roman Reigns, Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins that eventually led to a WrestleMania main event and set up a match in the aftermath of it all.

At WrestleMania XL Saturday, The Rock teamed with Reigns and pinned Rhodes, who was teaming with Rollins. On the Raw after WrestleMania XL Sunday, where Rhodes won the Undisputed WWE Universal Title from Reigns, Rock told Rhodes that their story was not finished.

"We believed fan expectations for his return would be extremely high," Nick Khan told ESPN. "What Rock was able to accomplish blew through those high expectations. ... I'm certain Rock was already penciling out the next mountain to build with WWE should he have come out of WrestleMania 40 healthy, which, fortunately he did."

It is unknown when Rock will return to WWE television. He is currently filming "The Smashing Machine," a biopic based on the life and career of Mark Kerr.
