North Wrestling's award nominated documentary is now available on their Patreon.
On Friday, January 24th, NORTH Wrestling's 'Watch The Lights' documentary went live on their Patreon and YouTube accounts. The documentary, which follows Leon Slater through the Summer of 2023, has been nominated for the Royal Television Society Regional Award next month.

Newcastle upon Tyne, January 22, 2025 – The highly acclaimed documentary Watch The
Lights, which dives deep into the heart of NORTH Wrestling, will be available to stream from
Friday, January 24th, 2025, on Patreon and YouTube for just £5.
This gripping film, directed by North East filmmaker Alex Ayre, takes viewers on a
behind-the-scenes journey through the summer of 2023, as NORTH Wrestling prepared for
its most ambitious event to date, Thunderstruck. Watch The Lights is equal parts thrilling,
humorous, and heartfelt, showcasing the passion and dedication required to stage a
professional wrestling show.
After selling out the Tyneside Cinema at its premiere screening and receiving an upgrade to
the venue’s largest auditorium due to overwhelming demand, Watch The Lights has
cemented its place as a standout celebration of independent wrestling and filmmaking.
The film has also garnered critical acclaim, gaining a nomination for the Royal Television
Society Regional Award (ceremony on February 15, 2025). The Film Magazine calls it “...a
must watch documentary.”
Director Alex Ayre calls the film a “love letter to independent wrestling,” adding:
