Oba Femi captured the North American Title on January 9 when he cashed in his Breakout Tournament contract on Dragon Lee on an episode of NXT. Since then, he has defended the gold against Tony D'Angelo, Wes Lee, Dijak, TNA Wrestling star Alex Hammerstone, and more.

Now, Femi is within three weeks of breaking the record for the longest-reigning NXT North American Champion. He recently posted a video on social media boasting about his upcoming accomplishment and said he would start a countdown for his fans leading up to the big moment.

Wes Lee currently holds the record. Lee was the NXT North American Champion for 260 days. He initially captured the title at NXT Halloween Havoc 2022. He would lose the title to Dominik Mysterio on the July 18, 2023 episode of WWE NXT.
