Otis had a lengthy run alongside Chad Gable in Alpha Academy. In 2024, Gable started scolding is Alpha Academy stablemates, and Otis gradually teased turning on him. After weeks of build-up, Otis finally stood up to Gable on the June 17th episode of WWE Raw.
Speaking on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, Otis was asked about the crowd's reaction when he stood up to Chad Gable.
“Oh yeah. In my words, in Gorilla, I go, ‘I’m so f*cking hard right now.’ [Laughs] It was the coolest shit, and there’s still a lot of story there too. It’s just one of those things organically, me and Gable, we don’t have to talk much about how we’re gonna do it, if that makes sense. It’s kind of like he knows how I would react. He’s seen me pissed, he’s seen me cry, he’s seen me all this stuff, so he knows what I gotta do to kind that switch on because again, it kind of was funny because everyone’s like, ‘Make sure you look serious,’ and I’m going, ‘Guys, you ever see me get pissed off in real life?’ Pretty scary. [Laughs] It’s not hard to get pissed. Usually I’m pretty chill," Otis said.
Van Vliet noted that the crowd wanted Otis to destroy Gable. Otis noted that he questioned whether simply pushing him was enough, as he had thought about slamming him. However, he decided to try it out.
“I remember going, ‘Is the push enough?’ I was like, let’s try it out. Because I’m thinking club him, slam him," Otis said.
Otis also noted that it was one of the loudest crowd reactions that he had ever received.
In recent months, Gable has formed a new group, as he has aligned with Brutus Creed, Julius Creed, and Ivy Nile to form American Made.
Gable recently said that you can't kill Chad Gable, and he's the American Spirit.
