Pete Dunne is living the life.
The current WWE United Kingdom Champion Pete Dunne has been reigning as top dog of the U.K. division for well over a year. The Birmingham native recently retained his title by defeating the winner of the 2018 WWE U.K. Championship tournament Zack Gibson. Dunne, alongside a number of other U.K. stars will be ushering in the NXT U.K. brand which will begin tapings for their weekly show next month.
While Dunne is the current face of the NXT U.K. brand he also is the current 'Attack! 24/7' Champion, 'DWW' Champion and one-half of the current PWR Tag Team Champions. Dunne is one of many wrestlers representing the NXT brand who are allowed to take bookings elsewhere or compete in promotions that have an understanding or working agreement with WWE. While being interviewed by ESPN, Dunne stated that he has the best of both worlds with his situation.
"It's crazy," Dunne said. "I think I'm in one of the best positions in all of sports entertainment. I really do have the best of both worlds -- being able to experience things from our own U.K. show, to being on main roster tours, to being a part of NXT -- [all] while still being able to take my own independent bookings and take the U.K. title with me. It's been a pretty surreal experience."
As mentioned, "The Bruiserweight" defended his WWE U.K. Championship on night two of the WWE United Kingdom Championship tournament at 'Royal Albert Hall'. To view the results from that show, click here.
