Rob Van Dam reflects on the talent in the NXT Women's Division and the 10-Woman Tag Team Match that took place at NXT 2300 inside the former ECW Arena.
NXT took over the former ECW Arena on Wednesday, November 6, 2024. While Rob Van Dam was one of the many ECW alumni that were in attendance at the event he was unable to get physical and wound up mostly being a spectator for the evening. The main event of the show would see Jordynne Grace, Stephanie Vaquer, Giulia, Kelani Jordan, and ZARIA defeat Fallon Henley, Jacy Jayne, Jazmyn Nyz, Cora Jade, and Roxanne Perez.
Rob Van Dam gave his thoughts on that match and the depth of talent in the NXT women's division during his most recent One of a Kind podcast. The former WWE Champion admitted he didn't see the entire match but spoke about being impressed with the standard of action on NXT and believes that the women were able to hold their own and a match that sometimes allows for more inexperienced competitors' weaknesses to shine through.
“There’s a lot of room to show skill in a match like that, and there’s a lot of room to show vulnerabilities or weak spots in a match like that, too. I don’t know, I think they pulled it off," he said. "I didn’t see the whole thing, but sometimes in a match like that, maybe if it was like in the other company, there might be a lot of spots on there that would say, you know what, they shouldn’t do that if they’re not good at it. If you’re not good at punches, don’t throw punches. If you’re not good at chops, don’t throw chops. If you’re not good at forearms, don’t throw forearms until you become good at it.
"A lot of green wrestlers are still doing things that they’re not that good at on TV and overall," he continued. "That’s something I would put a stop to. I’m not saying anything specifically about the girls. Just the thought of it, I could picture a lot of things going wrong if the girls weren’t ready. I’m impressed with the standards, the workmanship, the level that everyone is at there, at NXT, in comparison with other wrestling products that are on TV."
