On January 17, Avalon announced he would be taking Independent dates. Fightful Select reported on January 11 that his AEW contract was set to expire, but it was never confirmed if he had left the company.

Speaking to Denise Salcedo, Avalon says he is still with AEW.

"AEW original Pretty Peter Avalon is still with AEW, so that’s it. I am able to take outside bookings, just opening up my portfolio I guess," he said.

Avalon has been a regular on AEW Dark and is part of The Wingmen alongside Ryan Nemeth, JD Drake, and Cezar Bononi.

When asked about wanting to appear more on AEW Dynamite and AEW Rampage, Avalon said, "Of course I want it, and we have pitched things, I think the Wingmen are perfect for Dynamite and Rampage, and of course I think I am perfect for any kind of television… so of course I want to be on it, we’ve pitched things of course. But we’re there, we’re ready, we’re able and capable and ready. I know how it works, I know what the business is and it’s a wild time in the business. Tony has got a lot of new toys that he wants to play with and feature on his shelf so yeah I’ll get mine."

Avalon last wrestled on the January 18 episode of AEW Dark, teaming with JD Drake in a loss to Orange Cassidy & Wheeler Yuta.

Fightful has the live stream and results for AEW Dark every Tuesday at 7 p.m. ET.
