Report: AEW Blocked Jon Moxley From Working NJPW G1 Show In Dallas

Reason for Jon Moxley being pulled from G1 Opening Day.

It was announced on Monday night that Jon Moxley would miss NJPW G1 Climax 29 Press Conference and Opening Day in Dallas. Moxley had not been advertised for the event and was not scheduled to work a G1 match but was assumed to work a multi-man bout given his participation in the G1 tournament.

According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer, All Elite Wrestling has Moxley's rights for shows in the United States, which kept him from working the show in Dallas. Moxley can work the NJPW shows in Japan without an issue and has appeared on small US Independent shows, but AEW would not allow him to work the NJPW show in the US.

Meltzer goes on to report that until NJPW and AEW form an actual partnership, AEW talent will not be appearing on any NJPW shows in the US. Both Moxley and Chris Jericho have taken matches in Japan with NJPW while under contract with AEW. Kenny Omega also has it written into his AEW contract that he can appear in NJPW, but he has yet to utilize that option.
