Report: AEW Revolution Main Event Had Plan B Finish If Darby Allin Could Not Continue

Darby Allin wanted to do the glass spot above everything else, and AEW was prepared if he was unable to finish the match.

At AEW Revolution, Sting competed in his final match as he and Darby Allin defended the AEW World Tag Team Championship against the Young Bucks (Matthew and Nicholas Jackson). Sting and Allin emerged victorious, and fans have continued to buzz about the match. Others have criticized at least one aspect of the match, as Allin's dive off a ladder and through a pane of glass was a controversial spot.

Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated reports that nearly everything about the match went the way those involved hoped it would. Barrasso confirmed with multiple sources that the swanton off the ladder was the one spot that Allin wanted above everything. He writes that there was a Plan B with a different finish if Allin was unable to return to the match. This proved to be unnecessary, as Allin later returned to the bout.

Barrasso also reports that safety measures were applied, as the rehearsal was held earlier than usual, and a stunt coordinator gave instructions on how to place the items. This individual also reviewed the proper protocols, and nearby doctors were on standby as they were on high alert about the spot. The report also notes that the Young Bucks were prepared to call an alternate finish. Ultimately, Allin came back down to the ring and helped Sting clinch the win for the duo.
