- The show opened with a promo from Jon Moxley, Marina Shafir, PAC, and Claudio Castagnoli. They were all discussing Wheeler Yuta's impending decision on whose side he'll be on. PAC said that Wheeler is a lion, not a fluffy, cute animal. Claudio tried appealing to their history together, saying that he and MOX are the same guys they've always been and that Yuta has a home with them. Marina said something in Russian, and then Moxley spoke.

MOX said he prayed that Danielson would never win the AEW World Title, but since that is the case, he has to do what he has to do, and he will give whatever it takes to make sure that he is the one who takes the title off of Danielson. MOX threatened that there would be casualties, but he is giving Danielson a chance to go out on his shield and be buried in his backyard (referring to AEW WrestleDream being in Washington state). MOX says he will relieve Danielson of his duty for good on October 12.

Mark got very serious, punched Jericho in the mouth, and accepted the challenge.

- MVP appeared backstage with Renee to make his announcement. He was about to introduce someone when Prince Nana interrupted and actually said he would get back in the ring for a match with MVP. MVP said he doesn't handle those types of issues, but his surprise guest will handle complaints, and he introduced Shelton Benjamin. Benjamin drank Nana's coffee and told him it was good before he and MVP walked off together.
