NXT Results for 10/28/20 Halloween Havoc New North American Champion Crowned, Io Shirai Retains

Good evening Fight Fans, and welcome to our coverage for tonight's special edition of WWE NXT with the return of Halloween Havoc!

- We open the show with a video package breaking down tonight's special edition of NXT featuring the return of Halloween Havoc. We open in the arena with Shotzi Blackheart using a circular saw to make sparks before a guitarist plays the theme for North American champion Damian Priest as he makes his way out to the ring. Johnny Gargano comes out next and cuts an inflatable pumpkin before Shotzi spins the wheel on the stage. Once the wheel stops we see that their match will be a Devil's Playground match.

North American Championship Devil's Playground Match

Damian Priest (c) vs Johnny Gargano

Priest overpowers Johnny before Johnny comes back briefly and Priest dropkicks him for two. Priest hits a flying forearm that sends Johnny out of the ring before they counter each other and Johnny drags Priest under the bottom rope. Johnny then sends Damian into the steps before Johnny grabs a kendo stick and Priest a night stick as we go to commercial.

We come back from the break to Johnny in control, hitting a cannonball off of the stage and hitting Priest with a kendo stick across the back. Back in the ring Priest hits South of Heaven for two before Johnny counters a chokeslam and hits a shiranui onto the steps for two. Priest counters a tornado DDT and drops Johnny across the announce table before Johnny gets distracted by a dummy coming out of a casket. They end up backstage where Johnny sprays Damian with a fire extinguisher and pouring the contents of a garbage can onto Priest. Johnny then puts the garbage can over Priest before driving a cleaning cart into Priest as we go to commercial.

Priest is in control as we come back from the break before they end up on the platform with the wheel where Johnny superkicks the champion. Johnny hits Priest with an aluminum trash can until it bends and contorts before mocking Priest who drops him with a wheel kick. Priest calls for The Reckoning before someone dressed as Ghostface from Scream attacks Priest with a steel pipe. Johnny hits a DDT onto the platform before Johnny hits Priest with a tombstone and knocks him off of the platform and onto the floor below. Johnny then crawls to Priest and covers him for the pin and the win.


Winner: Johnny Gargano defeats Damian Priest via pinfall to become the new North American champion.

- Backstage we see Pat McAfee and the newly crowned NXT Tag Team champions Oney Lorcan and Danny Burch who are headed to the ring up next as we go to commercial.

- We come back to a video package for NXT champion Finn Bälor.

- Backstage Cameron Grimes meets with NXT General Manager William Regal ahead of his Haunted House of Terror match against Dexter Lumis.

- We go back to the ring where Pat talks about how great his debut match was before mocking and insulting the internet wrestling community. Pat criticizes Adam Cole for not paying him respect after their match at Takeover before talking about how he paid Ridge Holland to attack Adam Cole. Pat talks about how he linked up with the guys who took out Ridge before they're interrupted by Kyle O'Reilly of Undisputed Era. Kyle starts to get into the ring before Pete Dunne comes out and evens the odds with two steel chairs. Pete and Kyle clear the ring as Pat and company scurry away before Pete attacks Kyle from behind with the chair.

Pete then stomps the elbow of Kyle before Oney and Danny hit an elevated DDT onto a chair as we go to commercial.

Santos Escobar vs Jake Atlas

Santos is in control early before Jake comes back with the Rainbow DDT for a near fall that LDF break up. Jake hits a tope that takes out Mendoza and Wilde at ringside before Mendoza headbutts Jake. Santos then hits Jake Atlas with the Phantom Driver once they're back in the ring for the pin and the win.

Winner: Santos Escobar defeats Jake Atlas via pinfall.

Haunted House of Terror Match Part 1

Cameron Grimes vs Dexter Lumis

Cameron screams at Dexter outside as he slowly makes his way into the haunted house before he's frightened by a mounted deer head. A tricycle moves on its own in homage to The Shining before he's frightened by a deranged referee. Dexter pursues Cameron throughout the house before he sees a woman in the shower and she scares him by acting like the girl from the Ring series. Cameron wanders around in the dark before he's attacked by ghouls and he runs out of the house. Cameron gets into the passenger seat of the van which Dexter is driving before he runs off and Dexter gives chase.

The words To Be Continued then shows up on the screen before we go back to the announce table.

Winner: To Be Continued...

- We see Rhea Ripley and Raquel Gonzalez getting ready ahead of their match up next as we go back to the ring.

Rhea Ripley vs Raquel Gonzalez

Rhea lays into Raquel with punches to the midsection before Raquel drives her into the corner. Rhea headbutts Raquel who drops her with a strike before they shove each other and exchange slaps and punches. Raquel slams Rhea to the mat by her hair before hitting an elbow drop and the two counter each other's attempts at a fireman's carry. Raquel then catches Rhea coming off of the apron with a cannonball and powerbombs her into the barricade as we go to commercial.

Rhea is being stretched by Raquel as we come back to the ring before Raquel clotheslines Rhea for two. Rhea comes back with back elbows before Raquel drops her once more and Rhea counters a powerbomb into a back drop. Rhea locks in a cravat and hits Raquel with knees before hitting a basement dropkick for two. Rhea stomps Raquel and locks in a submission before Raquel hits a spinning slam for two. Raquel sets Rhea on the top rope before Rhea fights her off and Raquel counters an avalanche Riptide.

Raquel sends Rhea off of the top rope and crashing down onto the mat for two before Rhea counters a powerbomb into a head scissors. Rhea then kicks Raquel before hitting the Riptide for the pin and the win.

Winner: Rhea Ripley defeats Raquel Gonzalez via pinfall.

- We see Cameron Grimes making his way down the road as the announcers question if he's making his way back to the arena as we go to commercial.

- Backstage Drake Maverick as Hulk Hogan is interviewed before he's sandwiched between someone dressed as The Giant and The Yeti before we see Killian Dain dressed as the Shockmaster.

- Grimes makes his way back into the arena before he makes his way to the makeshift cemetery in the back of the arena.

House of Terror Match Part 2

Dexter Lumis vs Cameron Grimes

Cameron gets into the ring to avoid a zombie before Dexter attacks him and hits a running bulldog. Dexter hits a spine buster before zombies surround Cameron and Cameron hits one with the Cave In. Dexter then throws a zombie on top of Cameron before hitting Cameron with a uranage into The Silence until he passes out.

Winner: Dexter Lumis defeats Cameron Grimes via submission.

- After the match Dexter leaves before the zombies surround Grimes and The End appears on the screen.

- We get a video package for the NXT Women's Championship match up next in our main event as we go to commercial.

- We get a promo by Tommaso Ciampa who says that he doesn't recognize NXT anymore and how he's not taking turns. Tommaso goes on to say that he's heard it all and that he's never been handed anything. Ciampa says that he is NXT and it's time he take back his title before saying that it all begins with Velveteen Dream. Ciampa then once again reiterates that Dream is a dead man.

- We get a graphic for Velveteen Dream versus Tommaso Ciampa and Ember Moon versus Dakota Kai for next week's show.

NXT Women's Championship

Tables, Ladders & Scares Match

Io Shirai (c) vs Candice LeRae

Io immediately sends Candice out of the ring and hits a suicide dive before Candice gets a table out from underneath the ring and opens a bag which has fake body parts in it. Io hits Candice with a fake severed arm before Candice hits a drop toe hold that sends Io face first into the ladder that Io got out from underneath the ring. Io sends Candice face first into the post before sending her over the announce table. Candice stops Io from suplexing her through the table before hitting her with a laptop and propping a ladder up on the edge of the apron and the announce table. Io then sends Candice into the steps before suplexing her onto the floor as we go to commercial.

We come back to the two exchanging strikes before they bring two ladders into the ring and Io piles up chairs. Io hits a butterfly backbreaker before missing a moonsault and landing on the pile of chairs. Io suplexes Candice onto a chair set up in the ring before missing a running meteora into a ladder that falls on top of her. Candice goes up top before Io rocks her and sets up two chairs side by side before Candice counters her. Io hits a dragon screw with a chair before Candice ducks a 619 and hits Io across the back with a chair.

Candice hits a swinging neck breaker off of the apron and through a pair of tables before the Ghostface who helped Johnny earlier helps Candice. Shotzi runs the masked person off before Io sets a ladder up next to Candice and Io knocks Candice off of the ladder. Candice then goes crashing off of the ladder and through the ladder set up at ringside before Io climbs the ladder and grabs her title for the win.

Winner: Io Shirai retains her NXT Women's Championship by defeating Candice LeRae when she climbs the ladder and grabs her title.
