WWE NXT (10/3/2023) Results: North American Title Bout, Women’s Breakout Tourney Begins & More

On October 3, 2023, WWE hosted a new episode of NXT on the USA Network.

The show was headlined by Trick Williams defending his NXT North American Championship against Dominik Mysterio. Full results are listed below.

  • Fresh off retaining the NXT Women's Championship at NXT No Mercy, Becky Lynch came to the ring to kick off the program. Lynch mentioned that she was not medically cleared to compete in the night, but she was not mad about it because she & Tiffany Stratton "beat the piss" out of each other at No Mercy. Lynch said that she was looking to defend her title at Night One of NXT Halloween Havoc.
    Lyra Valkyria interrupted Lynch and said that she started training in Wrestling thanks to being inspired by Lynch wrestling in NXT. Valkyria did admit that she was eyeing the NXT Women's Title, but she was interrupted by a returning Indi Hartwell.
    Hartwell said that she returned to NXT with a point to prove and regain the NXT Title after vacating it due to injury, but she was interrupted by Roxanne Perez. Lynch suggested a #1 contender's match for a contender at Night One of NXT Halloween Havoc.
  • There was a video package highlighting the participants of the 2023 edition of the NXT Women's Breakout Tournament.
  • British Strong Style (Butch & Tyler Bate) def. Gallus (Mark Coffey & Wolfgang) (w/ Joe Coffey).
    • Gallus attacked Bate & Butch after the match, but Ridge Holland appeared on NXT to make the save.
  • Newly crowned NXT Champion Ilja Dragunov came to the ring to address the crowd. Dragunov put over Carmelo Hayes for pushing him to the limit at NXT No Mercy before stating that he would turn the title reign into a symbol of passion and protect his promise with his life.
    The newly crowned NXT North American Champion Trick Williams interrupted to congratulate Ilja Dragunov on his win, but stated that he was in the ring to celebrate his own title win. Williams thanked Dragunov for pushing him to a whole new level in their match at NXT Heatwave, where he stated that he is only going up from him. Carmelo Hayes came to the ring to interrupt Williams & Dragunov, but Dragunov stated that this was a conversation between champions. Dominik interrupted and asked Williams if he was still in Hayes's shadow. Hayes offered to be at ringside for the title bout, but Williams declined the offer.
  • NXT Women's Championship - #1 Contender's Match: Indi Hartwell vs. Roxanne Perez vs. Lyra Valkyria.
    • Becky Lynch was on the commentary team for the match. In the last part of the match, Roxanne Perez hit Indi Hartwell with the Pop Rox, but she was pulled out of the ring by Kiana James before James got greeted with a Thrust Kick from Lynch. Valkyria saw the opening and hit the Splash on Hartwell for the pinfall win. Tegan Nox appeared on the ramp to confront Valkyria & Lynch after the match.
  • Carmelo Hayes walked around backstage before he was confronted by Bron Breakker. Breakker told Hayes to use his rage from losing the title and take it out on everyone, especially on Trick Williams. Hayes told Breakker to leave Williams out of it, but Breakker responded by telling Hayes to think about it.
  • Ilja Dragunov was given his side plates for the NXT Title backstage before he was confronted by Baron Corbin, who stated that he had his eyes on the NXT Title.
  • Gigi Dolin def. Blair Davenport.
    • Blair Davenport attacked the referee after the match.
  • Kiana James was interviewed by McKenzie Mitchell. Kiana James revealed that if Roxanne Perez wanted a match against James, she had to first go through the opponent chosen by James. The opponent was revealed to be Asuka.
  • Alicia Taylor hosted the opening proceedings of the 2023 Edition of the NXT Women's Breakout Tournament. The participants were Jakara Jackson, Kelani Jordan, Arianna Grace, Lola Vice, Dani Palmer, Izzi Dame, Karmen Petrovic & Jaida Parker.
  • NXT Women's Breakout Tournament - 1st Round Match: Kelani Jordan def. Izzi Dame.
  • Duke Hudson & Andre Chase spoke with Jacy Jayne & Thea Hail backstage. They offered to be at ringside for the tag match of Jayne & Hail against Vice & Elektra Lopez, which Jayne accepted.
  • There was a video vignette of a man flicking through the TV channels, including Bengals training, WCW Television & some WWE TV. On a related note, USA Network revealed that Cincinnati's own Brian Pillman Jr was revealed to have signed with WWE.
  • Jacy Jayne & Thea Hail (w/ Andre Chase & Duke Hudson) def. Lola Vice & Elektra Lopez.
  • Carmelo Hayes was interviewed in the NXT Parking Lot. Hayes revealed that he will face Bron Breakker next week, with John Cena making his NXT Return in over 10 years to be in Hayes's corner.
  • NXT North American Championship Match: Dominik Mysterio (w/ Rhea Ripley, Damian Priest & Finn Balor) def. Trick Williams (c)/ NEW CHAMPION!
  • Paul Heyman appeared at the end of the show. Heyman revealed that he would be accompanying Bron Breakker for his match next week against Carmelo Hayes. Heyman smiled at the camera to end the broadcast.
