WWE NXT Results for 5/20/20 Strong Victorious Over Lumis, Charlotte Interferes in Main Event

Karrion Kross vs Local Talent

Roman Reigns Tries To Call Paul Heyman On WWE SmackDown, But The Number Is Not In Service

Kross immediately grabs his opponent and suplexes him before hitting several Doomsday Suplexes and locks in the Kross Jacket before his opponent is forced to tap for the win.

Winner: Karrion Kross defeats a local performer via submission.

- After the match Tommaso Ciampa comes out onto the stage and says that he respects Kross attacking him before making his way down to the ringside and getting into the ring with Kross and Scarlett before challenging Kross to a match at NXT Takeover: In Your House before leaving. We then get a graphic for Rhea Ripley versus Io Shirai in our main event as well as a video package for the Interim Cruiserweight Championship Tournament before we get a graphic for El Hijo Del Fantasma against Akira Tozawa up next and KUSHIDA versus Drake Maverick later tonight as we go to commercial.

NXT Interim Cruiserweight Championship Tournament Group B Match

Akira Tozawa vs El Hijo Del Fantasma

Hijo immediately goes for a quick roll up for two before they grapple on the mat and sweep each other before exchanging arm drags and exchanging chops before Akira rocks Hijo with a jab and hits a head scissors that sends Hijo out of the ring. Akira teases a suicide dive before hitting a hurricanrana off of the apron and down onto the floor before hitting a cannonball off of the apron as we go to commercial.

We come back to Akira in control of Hijo before he's swept and Hijo drags him out onto the apron before hitting a running splash onto the apron and hitting a slingshot senton for two before Akira hits a snap German suplex and climbs to the top. Hijo crotches Akira on the top rope before they counter each other until Hijo drops Akira across the top turnbuckle for two before Akira hits a bulldog and climbs back up top before hitting a high angle senton, but Hijo immediately rolls out of the ring. Akira goes out after Hijo and tosses him back into the ring for a near fall before Hijo dropkicks him over the top rope and hits a suicide dive before tossing Akira back into the ring. Hijo hits a running back elbow in the corner before Akira counters a fireman's carry into an octopus stretch before Hijo hits a Michinoku driver for the pin and the win.

Winner: El Hijo Del Fantasma defeats Akira Tozawa via pinfall to go up 2-1 and match Akira who is also 2-1 now and goes to the finals of the tournament.

- After the match we get a recap of Imperium becoming the new NXT Tag Team champions last week before we go to a backstage promo by Timothy Thatcher who challenges Matt to a rematch in a match where you can only win via knockout or tap out and that Riddle can pick the place before we get a graphic for Mia Yim versus Santana Garrett up next as we go to commercial.

- We come back to a promo by Shotzi Blackheart sitting on a tank who says that she's like a tank before talking about the connection between punk rock and wrestling before she cuts a promo on Dakota Kai and Raquel Gonzalez and well as Chelsea Green and Candice LeRae.

Mia Yim vs Santana Garrett

They hit each other with arm drags and mirror a dropkick before Santana hits a hand spring back elbow in the corner into a snap suplex for two before Mia comes back and kicks Santana in the face before hitting Protect Ya Neck for the pin and the win.

Winner: Mia Yim defeats Santana Garrett via pinfall.

- After the match Candice and Johnny Gargano come out to the ring and mock Mia before Mia and Candice exchange until Johnny pulls down the ropes and Mia is saved by Keith Lee who run Candice and Johnny off before we get a recap of Cameron Grimes defeating Finn Balor last week and Damian Priest attacked Finn Balor and revealed that he was the one who attacked Finn last month. We then get a promo by Cameron Grimes before we get a graphic for Damian Priest who will be in the PC later tonight as we go to commercial.

- We come back to an interview with Drake Maverick ahead of his match against KUSHIDA before we go back to the ring for Roderick Strong versus Dexter Lumis.

Roderick Strong vs Dexter Lumis

They exchange wrist and head locks before Lumis overpowers Roddy and sends him out of the ring. Roddy gets back into the ring and misses a spear before Dexter hits a leg drop and Roddy comes back momentarily only to be hit with a bulldog. Roddy then rolls back out of the ring and sends Dexter into the steps before dropping him back first across the edge of the apron as we go to commercial.

We come back to Roddy in control, hitting running back elbows in the corner before hitting a backbreaker and Dexter stares at Roddy. Strong hits an Olympic slam for two before stomping Dexter in the midsection who kicks Roddy away when he goes for the Strong Hold. Dexter hits a Thesz press and drops Roddy with right hands and an uppercut before hitting a high angle back body drop. Dexter hits a slingshot suplex for two before Roddy drops Lumis with a back elbow and an enzuigiri before Roddy chops him and Dexter just asks for more. Dexter then hits a spinebuster before countering a second attempt at the Strong Hold before Strong pins him out of nowhere for the win.

Winner: Roderick Strong defeats Dexter Lumis via pinfall.

- After the match Dexter chokes Roddy before he's saved by the rest of UE who are then attacked by The Velveteen Dream. We then go backstage to Rhea Ripley getting ready for her match against Io Shirai in our main event as we go to commercial.

- We come back to Fantasma talking to Tozawa in the parking lot before Tozawa is attacked by the masked men who have been wrecking havoc in NXT the past several weeks before escaping by vehicle.

Oney Lorcan & Danny Burch vs Ever-Rise

Danny and takes his opponent down before hitting a missile dropkick before Oney comes in and takes out both members of Ever-Rise. Oney then hits Chase with a running blockbuster before Lorcan and Burch lock in dueling submissions for the tap and the win.

Winner: Oney Lorcan and Danny Burch defeat Ever-Rise via submission.

- After the match we go to a backstage interview with the NXT North American champion Keith Lee before we get a graphic for KUSHIDA versus Drake Maverick up next as we go to commercial.

NXT Interim Cruiserweight Championship Tournament Group A Match

KUSHIDA vs Drake Maverick

KUSHIDA takes Drake down before Drake ends up on top and KUSHIDA kicks him away before hitting a basement dropkick when Drake drops down before the two exchange strikes until KUSHIDA hits a hand spring back elbow. KUSHIDA hits a drop toe hold before he wrenches and snaps the arm of Drake as Jake Atlas shows up at ringside before KUSHIDA hits a dropkick in the corner and focuses on the left arm of Maverick. KUSHIDA then hits a cartwheel dropkick as we go to commercial.

We come back to KUSHIDA kicking Drake before Drake tries to come back with strikes and hits a missile dropkick before following up with a code red for two. KUSHIDA kicks Drake's arm and rocks him with a right hand before hitting a shotei and a running shotei in the corner before wringing his arm and hitting a knee drop across the arm. KUSHIDA tosses Drake out of the ring before manipulating the arm of Drake once he's back in the ring before KUSHIDA rocks him with a right hand and nearly locks in a double wrist lock before Drake gets to the ropes. Drake catches KUSHIDA up top before KUSHIDA locks in a double wrist lock up top and locks in a flying armbar before Drake rolls him up for the pin and the win.

Winner: Drake Maverick defeats KUSHIDA via pinfall to now go up 2-1 before it's announced that because there is a three way tie in terms of record there will be one more match in Group A and KUSHIDA, Drake and Jake will face off in a triple threat next week with the winner going to the finals of the tournament.

- After the match we get a video package narrated by Rhea Ripley before we get a graphic for Damian Priest up next as we go to commercial.

- We come back to a graphic for the triple threat match as well as Matt Riddle versus Timothy Thatcher in a cage match before we go to a promo by Damian Priest who says that he's going after Finn because he's such a big name and that he's challenging Finn to a match at Takeover: In Your House before we get a graphic for Tommaso Ciampa and Karrion Kross at Takeover before we go back to the ring for our main event.

Io Shirai vs Rhea Ripley

Rhea immediately hits a running dropkick before Rhea catches her and Io gets free before clawing the back of Rhea before being dropped several times by wrist lock lariats and a running dropkick. Rhea then plants Io onto the mat several times before Io comes back with a rolling stomp for two as we go to commercial.

We come back to Io having Rhea grounded before Rhea picks her up and drives her into the corner before Io boots Rhea who meets her up top and hits Io with clubbing blows before Rhea hits a superplex for a near fall. Rhea drops Io with a right hand before Io counters a back suplex into a cross face before Rhea gets to the bottom rope for the break, Io following up with a 619 into a springboard missile dropkick that sends Rhea out of the ring. Io hits a suicide dive before Charlotte comes out onto the ramp and down to ringside where Io hits a head scissors that sends Rhea into Charlotte before Io hits a running meteora in the corner for a near fall before hitting a DDT for another near fall. Charlotte then gets into the ring and boots Io for the disqualification.

Winner: Io Shirai defeats Rhea Ripley via disqualification.

- After the match Charlotte attacks Rhea before holding up her NXT Women's Championship as we go off the air.
