Ric Flair On WWE/Endeavor Deal: They'll Be More Successful If They Keep Vince McMahon Involved

Ric Flair comments on WWE's deal with Endeavor.

On April 3, WWE officially entered into an agreement with Endeavor in which WWE would merge with UFC to form a new company. Vince McMahon will serve as the Executive Chair, and he stated that he will be involved in WWE creative at a higher level.

Speaking on his To Be The Man podcast, Flair commented on the news and expressed his hope that McMahon will still be allowed to run WWE. He referenced Turner Broadcasting System buying Jim Crockett Promotions, which he referred to as the NWA, and called that the worst case scenario.

“I just personally hope that the McMahon family… he is still allowed to run the WWE. Because god forbid we have another situation where Turner buys the NWA. That turned into the worst case scenario ever," Flair said..

When asked about the saying that "corporate-owned wrestling" doesn't work, Flair noted that it depends on who's involved. He shared his belief that if McMahon is not involved in making creative decisions, the company won't be as successful as it could be with him. Flair continued by stating that some people might complain about their position in the company, but they should keep that to themselves.

“It all depends on who’s ego, who’s doing what. But if they don’t keep Vince involved and let him help them make creative decisions, I don’t think they’ll be as successful as they would be with him. People say they’re upset with Vince. I didn’t see anybody upset with him. There’s always gonna be people that are complaining about their position in the company because they’re not where they want to be or they think they should be, but that’s not the fault of Hunter or Vince. Some people have a pretty high opinion of themselves that they should keep to themselves, rather than complain publicly, in my opinion," Flair said.
