New NWA World Historic Welterweight Champion Crowned.
On the 1/22/2023 edition of CMLL's Viernes Espectaculares, NWA World Historic Welterweight Champion Volador Jr defended his championship against NJPW Star & member of CHAOS Rocky Romero.
This was Volador Jr's first title defense in over a year, circling back to 2/11/2022 where Volador Jr defeated Fugaz to retain the title.
Despite Volador Jr having a title reign that spanned over 1632 days prior to the match, that all came crashing to a halt as Rocky Romero defeated Volador Jr to win the title on 1/20/2023.
This is Romero's eight Singles Title Reign, but only his first in his multiple runs in CMLL, and currently is the only wrestler to hold gold from an outside promotion in the company. Fightful will have more updates to this story & Romero's title reign.
