Sami Zayn Returns To Friday Night SmackDown, Declares AJ Styles And Jeff Hardy 'Fraudulent’ Champions

The Great Liberator has returned and is wasting no time calling out frauds.

Sami Zayn won his first WWE Championship at the 2020 WWE Elimination Chamber pay-per-view when he defeated Braun Strowman in a three-on-one handicap bout to capture the WWE Intercontinental Championship. After successfully defending the title at WrestleMania 36 against Daniel Bryan, Sami Zayn elected not to perform when the COVID-19 pandemic took a turn for the worse, and therefore, he had to relinquish the Intercontinental Championship.

In the months since then, Zayn continuously called both AJ Styles and Jeff Hardy fraudulent champions and now, he has made his return to WWE on the August 28th episode of Friday Night SmackDown and came face-to-face with both of those men.

Jeff Hardy successfully defended the Intercontinental Championship against Shinsuke Nakamura and while he had his attention on AJ Styles, who was on commentary during the match and threatened to take the championship back from Jeff Hardy, when Sami Zayn made his presence felt and confronted Jeff Hardy before both men would stare down AJ Styles allowing Sami Zayn to floor Jeff Hardy with a Helluva Kick.

In an interview conducted with Kayla Braxton following that segment, Sami Zayn would say that he is the rightful champion and he is a true man of the world because he is from Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
