Samoa Joe has his eyes on a lot more than the NXT title -- he has them locked on Brock Lesnar.
Joe defends his NXT Championship Saturday night against Shinsuke Nakamura in the main event of NXT Takeover: Back To Brooklyn. After long being rumored for an eventual debut on WWE's main roster, Joe, and many others already have an idea of who he'd match up well with. Joe told Forbes that he'd like to face Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 33, and is pulling for him at Summerslam.
“For selfish reasons, I’d like to see Brock stand tall until I get my hands on him. I’d like to see Brock pull through so I can get my shot at him," Joe said.
Lesnar wasn't the only UFC fighter he was asked about in the interview, as the topic of UFC Featherweight Champion and UFC 202 headliner Conor McGregor came up. Despite McGregor's recent comments about WWE wrestlers, Joe didn't feel like there was a point for him to return fire.
“I think Conor McGregor is a promoter, and I’m not here to promote any of his fights. If he were here in WWE, that would be a different story, but until that happens I don’t feel like I need to address it," Joe said.
