Shayna Baszler: People Try To Erase What Ronda Rousey Has Done Because They Don't Like Her Personally

Shayna Baszler thinks that Ronda Rousey is under-appreciated.

Baszler and Rousey have been tethered together for the vast majority of their wrestling careers, despite having very different paths to WWE. Rousey came to the promotion following her success in the UFC, while Baszler worked her way through the independent scene after her MMA career.

The two clashed in a big singles match at the SummerSlam premium live event in August in a bout that Baszler won. Ronda Rousey seemingly left WWE after this bout, as she recently wrestled at an independent show in Nevada. Furthermore, Rousey is set to wrestle at an upcoming Wrestling REVOLVER event.

While speaking to WrestleZone for a new interview, Shayna Baszler said that some fans like to try and erase what Rousey has done for combat sports, simply because they don't like her personally.

“I think Ronda Rousey is, I think she’s under-appreciated. I think people like to hate her for whatever reason, and it’s been that way in MMA — it’s because she doesn’t mince her words. People like to, because they don’t like her personally, they like to try to erase what she’s done for women’s sports, women’s combat sports, the UFC & WWE. They like to minimize that just because they don’t like her personally and I think that’s a shame. I might not be on the best terms [with her], but I will never deny that she did a lot for women’s combat sports. I think she’s under appreciated in some sense.”

Fightful will continue to update fans on Rousey's journey through the independent wrestling scene.
