STRONG Openweight Championship Changes Hands On 6/25 NJPW STRONG

Fred Rosser has won gold for the first time in New Japan Pro Wrestling.

After a long rivalry that would get very personal and even see him get his head shaved, Fred Rosser overcame Tom Lawlor in a match at the famous 2300 Arena in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to become the second NJPW STRONG Openweight Champion. It was all or nothing for the former Darren Young as had he lost the match, he would have had to leave the promotion.

This is the first major singles championship for Rosser, who was previously a WWE Tag Team Champion along with Titus O'Neil as The Prime Time Players.

In an interview with Sean Ross Sapp in 2021, Rosser spoke about what the opportunities in NJPW STRONG have meant for him and his career. You can check out the full interview here.
