Swerve Strickland comments on his current presentation as AEW World Champion.
As the AEW World Champion, Swerve Strickland has factored in heavily to AEW shows, sometimes appearing multiple times a night including an in-ring bout. Strickland closed Saturday's AEW Collision in a pre-taped promo hyping his AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door match against Will Ospreay.
Speaking on Busted Open Radio, Swerve commented on how he's been presented on AEW TV.
"There is literally a time ticker for when I'm about to pop up on screen. I'm popping up on the screen like three times a night and different promos. I'm giving live promo shots. 'We have to shoot it now.' Okay, boom. I'm having a presence on Collision, even when I'm not there. The last promo on Collision that ended the show, I shot that in my house the day before just because. 'Whatever y'all need.' I like to keep myself presentable at any time. I call myself the Boogeyman of pro wrestling for a reason. You say my name and I pop up. I like the factor of you never know when I'm going to pop up. When Samoa Joe faced Dustin Rhodes at the end of the show, I popped up again. I like that factor of you never know when I'm going to pop up, if I pop up at all. Keep watching because sometimes not being announced is a good thing too, to keep you wondering, 'They said his name. Is that going to have implications in this segment with this character?' Sometimes, I don't like leading people on to what is about to happen. Sometimes it's a good thing. Sometimes, just let people watch and leave them to their own imagination," said Swerve.
Swerve is set to defend his AEW World Title against Roderick Strong on AEW Dynamite.
