Ric Flair almost returned to North Carolina.

FWE Wrestling held an event on December 10 from Dorton Arena in Raleigh, NC. Kurt Angle, Gangrel, Billy Gunn, Brian Cage, and more were advertised to appear at the event. According to Sylvain Grenier, Ric Flair had also agreed to appear, but things ended up falling through.

"We were 'that close' to getting Ric Flair for the show. He had wrestled his last match six months ago and was doing appearances, we really tried hard. Ric actually said yes, but I think it was his agent, he had some other stuff to take care of and the travel and the schedule, it was that close. Maybe next time. Now, we have Billy Gunn, who is on TV with AEW," said Grenier on the Culture State podcast.

Flair wrestled his last match on July 31 when he teamed with Andrade El Idolo to defeated Jeff Jarrett & Jay Lethal. He has done various appearances since then.

Grenier is a former WWE World Tag Team Champion who also worked as a producer for the company.
