Terry Thatcher: My Match With Bronson Reed Is Genuinely One Of The Most Important Of My Career

Terry Thatcher discusses working with Bronson Reed.

At OTT Contenders 7 in 2018, Bronson Reed would make his way to Ireland, wrestling under the name of Jonah Rock. In his appearance for the Irish promotion, Reed came up against one of Ireland's top veterans in Terry Thatcher as he was in the midst of a face turn.

Kurt Angle: Baron Corbin Is Really Talented, I See A Lot Of Potential In Him

While speaking to Fightful's Corey Brennan in a recent interview, Thatcher reflected on his match with Bronson, noting that it was one of the most important matches of his career.

"That was a fun one. It's genuinely one of the most important matches of my career. Because I wasn't really... I was kind of spinning my wheels before that. Then I had a match the month before on Contenders that turned me babyface. Fun little match with Eddie Stone. Then after that I was just very randomly told, 'okay well you're gonna work this big lad Jonah Rock', I was like well i'll go check him out and like like shit myself at the videos videos like oh my god he's gonna murder me. So we went into it and I had all these ideas and, like, you know, peeling back the curtain or whatever. But, like, I kind of came up with, like, after watching his highlight videos and going, oh, we could do something with that. Or he could throw me up andcatch me. Oh, yeah, he'd be able to hit me with that. I just had this vision in my head. Did you ever see the Brock Lesnar, AJ Styles match from one of the Survivor Series a few years back? I think it was just the whole match in general was it was like an elongated squash in some respects where it was just like Brock just bet the absolute life out of AJ. But then slowly but surely AJ started making his way back in and genuinely one of my favorite matches. But I was going with that. That's the kind of match I want to have and I had in my head that would be the perfect way for me to to get over as a babyface. Look the story is there in front of you, you see the the size difference so like we don't need any help with telling that story but if we're gonna make it something special I have to be annihilated for 80% of the match."

Thatcher continued, noting that he regretted how they mapped out the match after taking one of Reed's ferocious chops.

"I think he started off and I, like I chopped him once and then went to go for it again. H he just catches my hand and just looks at me.The first chop sent me a good three quarters across the ring. Immediately regretted my decision of how I planned the match. I was like, ah, we're in the deep end now. So, uh, Fuck it, go on. I don't know. I should probably go back and watch it and count how many times I got chopped in that, but it was a lot. It was definitely a lot. I just kind of, I think I just got a bit numb to it and stopped feeling it. Yeah, it's genuinely one of my favourite matches that I've ever had."

Thatcher is currently in the midst of a feud with Noah Walker, brawling with his rival at OTT Gaff Party Dublin earlier this month.
