Tommaso Ciampa believes he will turn heel again when the time is right and says that is the most comfortable version of himself to portray on TV.
Tommaso was once the biggest heel in WWE NXT after turning on Johnny Gargano in 2017 leading to the brand's biggest rivalry of its black and gold era. Today, Gargano and Ciampa are happily reunited as best friends and entering their first WrestleMania hoping to walk away with some gold as they enter a Six-Team Ladder Match for the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship.
Still, Ciampa does believe that when the time is right, his character will once again evolve to show a darker side.
"Yeah, it's all evolution of characters. If I walked into NXT on day one and I was Blackheart, I don't know that it would have transcended and worked. But when you're You're part of an underdog tag team, best friends. There's a turn there. There's reason for hatred. So, I mean, in a lot of ways, we're setting the same layers and bricks on the main roster. So hopefully the day does come where I can bring out that side of me because that is my most comforting side for myself," said Ciampa to Steve Fall of WrestlingNewsCo.
Until then, #DIY is looking to become WWE Tag Team Champions for the first time ever. Hopefully, Ciampa doesn't get the edge to turn on Johnny Gargano for old-time's sake in Philadelphia.
