Timeless Toni Storm successfully defended the AEW Women's World Championship over Mina Shirakawa at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door.
The story of this match in the lead-in and throughout the night was Mariah May being torn between her affection for both women. This was evident in her ring gear as she took a neutral corner and War similar attire to that of Miss Elizabeth at WrestleMania 5 when she was stuck in the middle of Hulk Hogan and Randy Savage.
Fortunately for Mariah, she did not have to get very involved in the match, unlike the aforementioned Miss Elizabeth. The action was quick and packed a punch but in the end, it was the champion retaining after hitting her Storm Zero finisher on Mina Shirakawa for the victory.
In truth, while the record books will show a victory for Toni Storm, love won at the end of the day as Mariah May was not only able to convince Storm and Shirakawa to shake hands, but they also shared a hug, and a three-way kiss with Mariah before everybody left the ring together.
