Wrestling Entertainment Series cancels its scheduled inaugural event.
Wrestling Entertainment Series has announced that they are officially canceling their inaugural event in that was scheduled to take place on Saturday, July 9 at the Motorpoint Arena in Nottingham, England.
In the days leading up to the planned event, several wrestlers that were booked for this card, and the original date for the card that was previously scheduled on June 4, Like Matthew Rehwoldt, issued statements that they would not be working the event and in one case, Lina Fanene (Nia Jax) called out the promotion for continuing to advertise her for the event despite her claims that she informed them she would not be participating.
In a statement released on Twitter announcing that the event was completely canceled, Wrestling Entertainment Series claims that they had no choice but to cancel the event with several talents “not showing up.” Addressing Fanene directly, it was stated that she was paid her deposit and changed her mind and decided not to show up and wrestle.
The statement further says that the promotion intends to run in the future.
Dear fans and followers, Unfortunately, we will have to cancel the event scheduled for this Saturday at the Motorpoint Arena in Nottingham England. We are deeply disappointed in the news that we have to share but with so many talent not showing up, we will have no choice then to cancel the event.
Our team worked so hard on this event day in and day out for the fans to come with a different type of wrestling event and believe that we still will be able to show that in the near future.
We do want to say that all our talent that was scheduled have been paid in full and that Lina Fanene was paid her deposit as well while she changed her mind and did not want to show up and wrestle anymore. For now we will have to apologize for this, but we promise that it will not end here. See you soon!
