WWE Issues Statement On Jeff Hardy; Matt Hardy Posts In Character Tweet

News broke Sunday night that former WWE Champion Jeff Hardy was arrested this weekend in North Carolina for driving impaired. On Monday, WWE issued a statement about the arrest.

"Jeff Hardy is responsible for his own personal actions. We are investigating the matter and awaiting information from local law enforcement officials."

WWE wasn't the only pertinent party that commented on the matter. Jeff's own brother Matt took to Twitter shortly after the news to seemingly rib the younger Hardy.

Jeff Hardy has had well documented issues with alcohol and substance abuse for well over a decade. However, most of his problems seemed cleared up after his TNA Victory Road 2011 appearance, where he showed up for a match with Sting clearly impaired.

It's worth noting that WWE doesn't have an official policy for this type of situation, and has experienced several similar situations in the past, including current Smackdown Live Tag Team Champion Jey Uso being arrested for DUI.

Jeff Hardy was recently cleared to return after a late 2017 shoulder injury.
