Zac Efron reflects on Kevin Von Erich telling him that he enjoyed Efron's portrayal of his life in the "The Iron Claw."
The tragic story of the Von Erich family is coming to the big screen with the new A24 film, "The Iron Claw." In the movie, Zac Efron plays Kevin Von Erich, the first of Fritz Von Erich's children to get into the world of professional wrestling. With reviews of the movie starting to pour in, Efron was waiting to see what Kevin Von Erich would have to say about the portrayal of the life he shared with his family in the squared circle and beyond.
In a new interview with Variety, Efron says he shared a special conversation with Kevin where he did learn that Kevin enjoyed the film, a review that Efron calls "the most important" in regards to this film.
“I was very curious about what he thought of the movie,” he shared. “We went out to the patio, sat forehead to forehead, and talked about life for an hour and a half. He told me that he did enjoy the movie. I can’t really put into words how that feels. It’s far and away the most important review to me on so many levels. It meant the world, and everything just came full circle.”
Triumph, tragedy, and everything in between will be on display in the movie, which has already had some calling it "emotionally obliterating." Learn more here.
In the film, Efron does get a taste of life inside the ring. Chavo Guerrero recently stated that he wrestled Zac Efron in a 12-minute match multiple times. Read more about that experience at this link.
