Dana White Feels Horrible For Khabib Nurmagomedov, Hasn’t Discussed Any Future Plans With Him

UFC Lightweight Champion Khabib Nurmagomedov’s father Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov recently passed away at the age of 57 years old.

Dana White says that he feels horrible for Nurmagomedov, while also saying the UFC is giving the fighter time to mourn the passing of his father.

“It’s terrible,” White said during a recent media scrum (via Damon Martin of MMA Fighting). “We feel horrible for Khabib and how much he loves his father and how close they were. [We’re] just giving him time to mourn and do whatever he needs to do. We’re not bothering him at all right now. We’re just leaving him alone.”

Abdulmanap wasn’t just Khabib’s father and coach, but was also one of the most sought out trainers in the country of Russia.

White says that he hasn’t discussed any future plans with Khabib, who is reportedly set to fight UFC Interim Lightweight Champion Justin Gaethje in two months at UFC 253.

“We’re not messing with Khabib right now,” White said. “We’re leaving Khabib alone. Khabib needs time. Khabib’s going to need time to get his head straight and figure out what’s next for him. We’re going to leave him alone for a little while. We’ll get it figured out.”

There has been co statement yet from Khabib or a representative as to what his future plans could be in the UFC.
