Makwan Amirkhani Wants Cub Swanson Next

Makwan Amirkhani is coming off of a split decision over Jason Knight, which took place on the main card of UFC Fight Night Liverpool.

Now that he has earned four victories under the UFC banner, a step up in competition is what Amirkhani wants and that comes in the form of Cub Swanson.

“I think it’s a good matchup (vs. Cub Swanson),” he said after the event. “I earned my shot with this fight, I think. His name has been ringing in my mind for a long time, and I think it’s time for us to fight. But I’ll let him take his fight first. Then I’ll talk to the UFC and we’ll see who’s the next victim.”

That fight may be delayed for a little while, as Swanson is currently slated to fight Renato Moicano later this summer at UFC 227.

Amirkhani is well known is his home country of Finlay, so the fighter wants to take the next step to become a worldwide name.

“When you walk in Finland, in every corner in every state, they know who Makwan Amirkhani is. Now it’s well time for the world to know about me,” says Amirkhani.

If Amirkhani does get the future match up against Swanson, it would be the first ranked fighter the Finland native has fought.
