Thomas Gifford needed a new opponent for UFC Fight Night Tampa after the withdrawal of Brok Weaver and now he has one because a report from ESPN says that Mike Davis has accepted the short notice opportunity.
Gifford (14-8-0-2NC) is winless thus far under the UFC banner, having dropped a bout to Roosevelt Roberts at UFC Fight Night Fort Lauderdale. Gifford hasn’t picked up a victory in over a year, with that last win coming at Kansas City Fighting Alliance 29 in July of 2018. Gifford has picked up fourteen wins as a professional MMA fighter and twelve of them came by way of submission.
Davis (6-2-0) is also winless thus far in UFC competition, dropping a bout to Gilbert Burns at UFC Fight Night Fort Lauderdale. Davis also competed on Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series Episode 14, suffering a unanimous decision loss to Sodiq Yusuff. Davis has picked up six wins as a professional MMA fighter and all of them came by way of KO/TKO.
UFC Fight Night Tampa takes place on Saturday, October 12 from the Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida with Joanna Jedrzejczyk and Michelle Waterson headlining. Fightful is going to be providing live coverage of the event, which streams live on ESPN+.
