Paige VanZant has suffered an undisclosed injury and has been pulled from UFC Fight Night Brasilia, replacing her against Amanda Ribas is Randa Markos.
Raphael Marinho of Combate first reported the news, but the extent of VanZant’s injuries or how long she’ll be out of action for is unknown at this time.
Ribas (8-1-0) is undefeated thus far under the UFC banner, defeating the duo of Mackenzie Dern and Emily Whitmire. Ribas has suffered a single defeat as a professional MMA fighter and that came to fellow UFC fighter Polyana Viana at Jungle Fight 83 in November of 2015. Ribas has competed nine times as a professional MMA fighter and just two of those bouts went the distance.
Markos (10-7-1) has won two of her last in the UFC, with those wins coming over the duo of Angela Hill and Ashley Yoder. Markos also competed on the UFC Ultimate Fighter 20, making it to the semi-finals before losing to Rose Namajunas. Markos has competed a total of eighteen times as a professional MMA fighter and twelve of those encounters went the distance.
UFC Fight Night Brasilia takes place on Saturday, March 14 from the Ginasio NIlson Nelson in Brasilia, Brazil with Kevin Lee and Charles Oliveira headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which streams live on ESPN+.
