Andrade El Idolo Says His AEW Contract Will Expire 'Very Soon'

Andrade El Idolo provides an update on his status.

In November 2022, Andrade took to social media to reveal he underwent surgery for a torn pectoral. He had not wrestled since AEW All Out when he competed in the casino ladder match. He was scheduled to wrestle Preston Vance on the October 7, 2022 episode of AEW Rampage, but Tony Khan announced that the match was off the week of the show.

Speaking to Lucha Libre Online while at WrestleCon, Andrade was asked about his experience at the convention when he gave an update on where things stand with him.

"First of all, I still work for AEW. I want to clarify that, because I am still with AEW. My contract will expire very soon, but I still belong to AEW. I tore my chest, so I am still in recovery. I had an operation in November, about 4 months off, but am close to being back & to feel at 100%. I was in the Hall of Fame event, mostly to accompany my spouse (Charlotte Flair) and to celebrate the induction of my friend, Rey Mysterio. It’s something awesome because I have great matches with him. I never tagged with him, but he is someone I admire and a symbol for all Latinos. Of course I saw Ric Flair & he thanked me for being with his daughter and to give her advice ahead of her match. Now that I see her, I would tell her about it," he said.

Andrade signed with AEW in June 2021. He previously stated he signed a three-year deal with the company.

It was reported on October 5 that Sammy Guevara and Andrade El Idolo got into a backstage altercation that saw Andrade get sent home for his actions.
