On March 4, Raw Superstar Austin Theory showed up on SmackDown and confronted McAfee, saying that Vince going on his show was a set-up. He then said that he is Pat's WrestleMania opponent before smacking McAfee across the face. Theory would walk away taking selfies as he made his way up the ramp.

Mr. McMahon is said to be in the building though it remains to be seen if this was all indeed part of a larger plan.

Theory has been under the tutelage of Mr. McMahon ever since he confessed to stealing Cleopatra's Egg from his at Survivor Series. On the February 28 episode of Raw, Theory could be seen in Vince's office asking if he was worried about Pat McAfee’s interview potentially becoming a hostile situation, even offering to accompany the Chairman of the Board.
