Becky Lynch has her sights set on a match with Rhea Ripley.
At WWE WrestleMania 39 Night One, Ripley defeated Charlotte Flair to win the WWE SmackDown Women's Championship. Lynch also scored a major win at WrestleMania; she teamed up with Lita and Trish Stratus to defeat Damage CTRL (Bayley, Dakota Kai, and IYO SKY). Lynch and Lita are the reigning WWE Women's Tag Team Champions, but "The Man" has teased her interest in challenging for Ripley's title.
Speaking with Daniel Cormier and Marc Raimondi for ESPN MMA following WrestleMania 39 Night Two, Lynch commented on Ripley's victory and called her one of the greatest female wrestlers she had ever seen. Lynch praised Ripley's natural ability and stated that she was mesmerizing to watch. She then noted that she can't wait to take the title from her.
"She is the champion. She is one of the greatest female wrestlers I’ve ever seen in my entire life. She’s a natural, she’s a star. She is mesmerizing to watch. She’s the future of the wrestling business, I think. But I can’t wait to beat her for that title one day," Lynch said.
Lynch subsequently stated that her day will come, but Ripley has plenty of time left. "The Man" made it clear that she's excited to see what Ripley will do for the SmackDown women's division. She then shared her belief that the division needs a fresh coat of paint, and she couldn't think of a better one than Ripley.
“My time is gonna come here one of these days, but Rhea has a lot of time left. I’m very excited [about] what she is going to do for the women’s division on SmackDown. I think it needs a fresh coat of paint, and I couldn’t think of a better fresh coat of paint than Rhea Ripley," Lynch said.
In the same interview, Lynch reflected on her own match at WrestleMania 39. Check out her comments here.
