Chris Jericho on Marko Stunt: It Doesn't Matter How Big He Is, He Connects With The Audience

Marko Stunt has made plenty of headlines, both good and bad, since signing with AEW and appearing on Dynamite. Some have criticized his lack of size, claiming he hurts the believability of pro wrestling. Others have defended him, noting that it's just pro wrestling and Stunt stays in his lane.

AEW World Champion Chris Jericho didn't understand the appeal of Stunt at first, but quickly came around when he heard the reaction from the crowd.

Four-Way Match Added To AEW Full Gear: Zero Hour

"At first, the concept of Marko Stunt was, 'Who is this guy? He's too small. Come on.' But when they see him, people enjoy him and they are interested in what he's doing," Jericho told Premiere Live TV. "Who am I to judge that? When you see Marko and the stuff that he does, you might be more excited than some guy who is 6'5'' and 280 pounds of muscle. Just because one guy 'looks like a wrestler' and one guy doesn't? One guy gets a great crowd reaction and has exciting matches and one guy doesn't. Over is over. If you can connect with the audience, that's the most important thing, no matter how big you are"

AEW wrestlers such as Stunt and Orange Cassidy have proven that different sizes and gimmicks can get over with the audience. Stunt has not found much success in the ring, sporting a 1-6 record in his AEW career.

Elsewhere during the interview, Jericho revealed he was the one who wanted Sammy Guevara in AEW. You can view Jericho's full comments on Guevara by clicking here.
