Cincinnati Bengals Brought In Olympic Wrestler Mason Parris For Workout

From the Olympics to the gridiron.

James Rapien of Sports Illustrated reports that the Cincinnati Bengals brought in Mason Parris for a workout on September 2, just days before the NFL regular season is slated to begin. Parris worked out at defensive end and linebacker. He won the national heavyweight title as a wrestler while attending the University of Michigan. Parris competed in the 2024 Summer Olympics and represented the United States.

Parris will hope to fare better than former WWE superstar and Olympic gold medalist Gable Steveson, who attempted to transition to football before he was cut by the Buffalo Bills. Steveson was not signed to the Bills' practice squad.

As of this writing, there is no word on whether the Bengals will add Parris to the 90-man roster at any point.

Plenty of football players have successfully made the jump to wrestling. Roman Reigns, Goldberg, Big E, AJ Francis, Moose, Mojo Rawley, Baron Corbin, Ron Simmons, Junkyard Dog, Bron Breakker, Butch Reed, Fritz Von Erich, and Vader are just a few of many examples.

In another crossover between wrestling and football, Cody Rhodes recently complimented Joe Burrow's new look. Check out his comments here.
