CM Punk is the lineal AEW World Champion as he was never beaten after winning the title at AEW All Out 2022. He was stripped of the title due to a triceps injury and reported suspension following the bout.
On the June 17 episode of AEW Collision, Punk made reference to the fact that he wasn't pinned or submitted in the ring by anyone, including MJF, who is the reigning AEW World Champion. Punk had a red bag with him during his Collision promo, alluding to the AEW World Title being in the bag.
While we may never know what was in the bag, Punk was carrying a championship in Chicago as he was gifted a custom Chicago Blackhawks Championship by Blackhawks mascot Tommy Hawk while visiting the United Center for Collision.
