Eddie Kingston wanted to bring back a classic spot.
During the rivalry between Ric Flair and Terry Funk in the 80s, Funk infamously put a plastic bag over Flair's head at Clash of Champions VIII. Being a disciple of Funk, Eddie Kingston wanted to use the spot during his feud with Chris Jericho in 2022.
“Trust me, I know how Turner is scared about that because I’ve asked about the plastic bag several times,” Kingston told Phil Schneider of The Ringer. “It was always walking in and Tony [Khan] going, ‘We’re not doing the plastic bag.’”
Kingston and Jericho did get to battle in a barbed wire ropes match on the July 20, 2022 episode of AEW Dynamite.
Kingston is currently sidelined with a leg injury. He underwent surgery earlier in July.
